The document
the Mystery of Banking written by the Ludwig Von Mises Institute is a long but worthwhile read. One of its conclusions is that we should return to a gold standard which is a view disputed by many. That said, all its other suggestions which are the abolishment of the privately owned central banking model, the separation of the government and money and the outlawing of fractional reserve banking by the return to 100% reserves are widely agreed upon.
