Who owns Britain and Ireland?

Who owns Britain and Ireland? Well it seems that in Britain 70% of land is still owned by less than 1% of the population. As the site says, this reveals the immovable vested interests of Britains landed aristocracy.

Actually, Cahill's basis for claiming in the subsequent post that the Queen owns 6,600 million acres of land across the world is that the rest of us - in Britain and elsewhere - are only freeholders (defined legally as a form of tenant).

According to Cahill, the Queen owns all the land of Britain and, I think, the Commonwealth - and everyone, even the privilieged 1% that 'own' 70% of Britain are mere tenants subject to being turfed out at her will (although normally they would expect to be compensated).

It's a while since I browsed thru' Cahill's book but I believe I'm correctly recalling his thesis.
